Post your idea to the Spelljammer Mailing List. This allows the other list members to comment on your post and help find typos and other mistakes. We try to mine the list for new and interesting data files. Some threads slip by occasionally, so be sure to mention that you're submitting material. (And, if we don't contact you or post it on the site, kick us.)
You can submit directly to the Council. Please contact us before sending any attachments.
If you've got a lot of material, we can make room for your "site" in the Lost Spheres section. Let the Council know if you're interested, and together we can figure out the best way of handling things.
Already have your own website? Let us know, and we'll add the URL to the other sites found at "Into the Flow (Related Links)".
Here are some simple guidelines which will make it easier for us to handle submissions, and anything that makes our lives easier can only help you...
Please identify what version of the game your submission is for. Even though it's usually obvious, various house rules muddy the waters and make it hard for us to figure out. If it isn't version specifc, or covers rules for more than one, let us know that too.
If converting material from earlier editions to 3e/3.5e, avoid taking the original entry and copying it word for word and filling in the updated rules. This type of conversion infringes on the copyright of the original author, and cannot be posted on this site.
Follow the basic layouts used by material of the same type. For example, NPCs should use the standard format presented in various D&D books.
We prefer simple text, RTF or HTML files. We will accept other formats, but you should let us know beforehand.
Check your spelling. Be especially careful with the title and subject of your submission. There have been quite a few NPCs and ships submitted where the name was spelled inconsistently throughout the article, making it difficult to give them a proper title.
Send images in .GIF or .JPG formats, whichever is appropriate. If you're new to image making, or don't know what's appropriate for the picture, don't hesitate to ask. Also, we'll work with you if you have a map or deckplans made using one of the various mapping packages. We'd much rather answer questions and get what we need than get stuff we can't use.
Take a look through the site and make a suggestion on where your post should go (unless it's really obvious, like a ship or an NPC). The site's organization isn't carved in stone, so don't be afraid to make suggestions if you feel a new section is needed.
